providing a focus for microtonal music in the UK

creating a melting pot of practice, debate and inspiration

uk microfest

We organise a bi-annual festival of microtonal music presenting a dynamic, full and intensive 3 days of microtonal music performances, celebrating the diversity of current microtonal music making. There are well established Microfests in the USA and similar organisations in Holland dedicated to microtonal music. UK MicroFest aims to provide a needed counterpart event forum in the UK.

Whilst the emphasis is on the UK, we also aim to bring international artists to the Festival in order to be as expansive in outlook as possible and foster opportunities for creative interaction.

We bring together performers and composers with theorists in a purposeful way by means of informal presentations, with an emphasis on application and result—we are not an academic conference but a largely performance based festival.

Previous MicroFests have been inspiring to both audiences and participants, and have provided excellent networking opportunities as well a platform for excellence in microtonal performance.

Microtonal Projects is a collective community of volunteers and any support offered goes 100 percent towards our projects. We are extremely grateful to have been supported by PRS, RVW Trust, Hinrichsen Foundation, Dutch Embassy, Riverhouse Arts Centre, and many individuals in the past.
